Cascade A & E, Bend Oregon, February 2013 - CD Review Yvonne Ramage, an acoustic solo artist, wrote and produce a CD called KOKO, featuring her funk-folky mix of upbeat pop sounds. Ramage returns to her roots in the Pacific Northwest after touring internationally and living in Las Vegas performaing original music and polishing her songwriting skills.KOKO showcases Ramage's smooth vocals while on guitar and flute with Anthony Pickett on bass. Soulful lyrics are written by Ramage to capteru "a single journey that can be shared and understood by many ". The neo-soul blended withthe pop and folk sounds on this CD will move you to Come Dance and put a spring in your step, to pause, enjoying a moment in life. The second song is called Jah Motion, representing our need for more "Jah" (oneness, Hallelujah, divine nature) in the world". Her musical journey began in Antarctica in 1995, where Ramage focused on music as "an avenue of expression." She has dranw from her travel experiences adn adventures in Antarctica, new Zealand, Fiji and micronesia to illustrate her own journ as a lyrical stores. Keep on Keeping On being the third song on her seventh CD, has a groovy and sultry vibe. Taking a break from live performing, Ramage focused her time on the sound and studio production of this soutful, rhythmic album and now is taking it on the road. Ramage describes her music as a cross between Joni Mitchell and Talking Heads. Her voice is as strong as her lyrics and guitar playing. Her three-song debut EP, Sessions, features "Show and Tell," "Show Me" and "So Far," three melodic pieces that take the love song to a different level. You won't hear clichés in Ramage's music. Her sound is polished, with light percussion augmenting her strumming. Patterson, a native Texan, honed her music at open mics in Austin and boardwalks in California. Her lyrics feature political irony and potshots at the pop music industry; in fact, her label is Commercial Whore Records. Her style has been described as "acoustic punk." The Worldfolk Foundation is putting on a don't-miss bash with its Holiday of Hope" benefit, featuring a laundry list of home-grown alents. Delta Dragg (and Earth Church) provide the rock, Amistad offers the R&B and Paper Symbol gives up the folk. Singer/ songwriters for the affair include Hal Savar, Yvonne Ramage and Jeremiah Neal, with blues and jazz acts yet to be announced. The benefit begins at 6 p.m. at Hamburger Mary's at 2503 S. Paradise Road. Two raffles will take place: a cash raffle and a prize raffle with goodies that include show tickets, massages, art, dinners and CDs. All proceeds will be divided between area homeless shelters. Hamburger Mary's will also offer a pasta special (which includes dessert) for $10.
